RTI in Golden Dome

Proven Software for Next-Generation Air & Missile Defense

Golden Dome

Golden Dome has a clear objective: create an integrated homeland defense system-of-systems that is capable of detecting and defeating everything from small drones to hypersonic threats. Its mission is to give operators clearer awareness, faster decisions, and more coordinated defensive action across a rapidly evolving threat landscape.

But its defining challenge is the schedule. The program’s timeline is measured in years, not decades – a pace that stands in stark contrast to how the Pentagon has historically fielded complex systems at scale. Delivering meaningful capability quickly requires a new approach to modernization, one that strengthens awareness and coordination without waiting for long development cycles or large-scale redesigns.

Golden Dome brings together diverse defensive capabilities into a unified mission framework. RTI is already embedded across many of the systems supporting this effort today, giving programs a trusted, field-proven foundation they can build on with confidence.

RTI Connext not only accelerates integration but also provides consistent, deterministic data flow across platforms, reducing technical risk and ensuring new capabilities perform as intended. As missions evolve, Connext enables continuous modernization – allowing programs to introduce new sensors, analytics, and decision-support tools, without disrupting what already works.

Connecting the Critical Elements of Golden Dome Architectures

The fastest path is reusing what works – and enabling new capability to fit in easily.

Golden Dome’s schedule leaves no room for rebuilding what already works. Much of the required sensing, tracking, and command-and-control capability is already deployed across today’s defense architecture. Many of the systems expected to feed Golden Dome – Aegis, IBCS, THAAD, and SPY-6 – are already built on open, real-time data frameworks that support cross-domain coordination.

The only practical way to meet the program’s aggressive timeline is to reuse and extend these existing systems, rather than replace or redesign them.

Connext enables this approach. It allows legacy and next-generation components to operate side-by-side, preserving prior investments while making it easy to introduce new capabilities. By building forward from proven infrastructure instead of starting over, Golden Dome can modernize operations at the speed the mission demands.

The Key to Success in Golden Dome

Golden Dome requires programs to move faster than traditional development cycles allow. Success depends on approaches that help reduce integration delays, reuse what already works, and connect systems without redesign.

By streamlining how components come together, programs can deliver capability earlier and stay ahead of fast-changing threats.

Golden Dome brings together many different platforms, sensors, and services. To operate as one, these systems need consistent ways to exchange information, stay aligned, and coordinate actions in real time.

A unified integration approach ensures each part of the architecture works together smoothly, even as new technologies are added over time.

When threats emerge, operators and systems must understand the situation quickly and respond in a coordinated way.

This requires clear, shared awareness of the battlespace – not fragmented data or isolated systems.

By helping systems present a consistent picture, programs can improve reaction speed and support better decision-making across domains.

Golden Dome will continue to grow and change for decades.

New sensors, new partners, and new missions will need to be integrated rapidly – without rebuilding the architecture.

Adopting an approach built for evolution ensures that as threats advance, the system can advance with them, supporting continuous upgrades while maintaining reliability.
