(Prolucid), the Mississauga-based Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) framework company, today introduced Prolucid DFR, a substation ready, secure and high performance Digital Fault Recorder solution that addresses high-resolution fault and disturbance recordings and security requirements within utility networks. DFR is built on Prolucid's E2C Edge framework and incorporates RTI Connext® DDS as the underlying communication bus. E2C Edge enables simple multi-protocol support, data management, and security for embedded and low power edge devices.
The solution is a digital fault and disturbance recording system offering extremely high measurement performance, enhanced security, a ruggedized form factor, and standard utility communication interfaces such as Modbus, DNP3, DDS, and IEC-61850 allowing it to be seamlessly integrated into large-scale legacy and modern utility systems. Prolucid utilizes RTI's Connext® DDS product as the secure communication backbone of all products based on the E2C Edge framework as it offers superior performance, reliability, and security across local and distributed networks.
