Data modeling design and review
The Connext DDS Databus is a data-centric software framework for distributing and managing real-time data. It allows applications and devices to work together as one integrated system. The databus simplifies application and integration logic with a powerful data-centric paradigm; instead of exchanging messages, software components communicate via shared data objects.
Establishing an appropriate data model is central to efficient interactions with the databus. Connext reduces application complexity because it “understands” your data and can offload actions from your applications, such as selective filtering. Additionally, Connext imposes rules and guarantees defined through Quality of Service (QoS) parameters such as rate, reliability and security of your data flow.
Your data model is critical to maximizing the value from the Connext DDS Databus. The data model can impact your application logic, when and how often communication happens, and how the databus works on your behalf. Working with our Professional Services team can ensure an optimal data model for your system.
What's Involved
If you’re just starting with Connext, an expert will work with your team to understand your data flows, system topology, and overall requirements to help craft a data model that addresses both type definition and QoS.
If you’ve already developed a data model and would like confirmation that you’re on the right track, an expert can review your work thus far, provide feedback, identify optimizations, and assess risk.
Prerequisites
The following criteria must be met before you can schedule this service:
- You must have previous Connext experience and/or training. You must be familiar with the fundamental DDS concepts such as DDS entities, publish/subscribe APIs, Quality of Service configuration, discovery, transports, and configuration files.
- You must be prepared to describe and discuss your use case and key system requirements.
Expected Duration
This service typically is delivered in 8-16 hours.
