The World's Largest Gathering of Power DDS Users
RTI strives to deliver empowering and insightful experiences for the RTI community. For this reason, in order to bring DDS users together to share their experiences, insights and challenges, we started the Connext Conference. Over the years, we have seen presentations cover what could only be imagined in science fiction. From autonomous vehicles, medical robots to flying cars, the Connext Conference allowed us and attendees to see that science fiction can indeed turn into science fact. And DDS is why these applications can exist; we empower others to build the impossible. The inspiration derived from the Connext Conferences is why we strive to deliver a better, more meaningful experience every year.
Like anything worth doing well, there is a cost; with a growing user base and thriving RTI community drives the demand for varying user experiences. Because of our commitment to you, everything we produce can’t just be good, but great; therefore, due to scheduling conflicts that would affect overall event quality, we have canceled the Silicon Valley Connext Conference, scheduled to take place on November 5-6, 2019.
Despite this cancellation, we have exciting news, as a result of the success of the DDS 101 seminar series, we have received significant interest from the RTI community and will move forward with an intensive DDS 101 day in Q1 of 2020. Expect to hear news of when this will take place.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and encourage you to check out our upcoming events and to stay tuned for DDS 101 in Q1 of 2020.

Technical Vision - Connecting Autonomous Systems in the IIoT, Dr. Gerardo Pardo-Castellote, CTO, RTI
The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) combines two of the fastest growing technical trends of our time: artificial intelligence and pervasive device networking. Together, these technologies create a massive network of intelligent machines with fundamentally new challenges, such as network connectivity, mobility
RTI, open standards-based architectures and the DDS standard are at the confluence of this industry transformation. This talk will analyze the key technical challenges facing today’s IIoT developers. It will explain the implications on the OMG DDS standard, RTI research

I have hinted that I would often jerk poor Queequeg from between the whale and the ship—where he would occasionally fall, from the incessant rolling and swaying of both. But this was not the only jamming jeopardy he was exposed to.

In 2019 RTI will release the next major installment of the Connext product suite: Connext 6. Driven by the challenges of highly-autonomous vehicles, Connext 6 introduces capabilities for optimizing high-bandwidth data distribution and supporting autonomous system development across the supply chain and throughout the life cycle.
In this session, we will introduce the key advancements coming in Connext 6 to improve performance, scalability and developer productivity. We will also discuss themes and directions for future releases of the Connext suite, highlighting the RTI Labs program for developing and incubating future products.

The smart machine era will be the most disruptive in history. Medical treatment systems, the power grid, process control, and transportation systems work today the same way they did 20 years ago. But in the next few years, clever engineers in every industry will find a way to leverage the amazing change in computing power and networking. That feat will threaten everyone and everything that does not respond.
The biggest impact is autonomy. RTI is a leader in the most exciting autonomy applications: smart medicine, renewable energy, autonomous cars and more. This talk will analyze the IoT market, and explore the common drivers across industries. It will explain RTI’s opportunity and positioning in the market. Finally, it will review some of the latest applications in the exploding Industrial IoT.

Technical Deep Dive: Product Advancements for Scaling IIoT Systems - Fernando Crespo, RTI
Complementing our Technical Vision, this presentation highlights advancements that RTI is delivering to help customers address the challenges of distributing data efficiently as their time-critical IIoT systems scale. We will discuss ongoing product innovations and technical considerations in several key areas:
- Layered Databus Architectures - evolving the implementation of our routing service to support the scale of future IIoT applications.
- Large Data in Motion - new capabilities for distributing LiDAR, medical imaging and streaming video data with minimal latency.
- Security - finer - grained options for optimizing performance and capabilities for user-defined access control.
- Resource-Constrained Systems - increased functionality including security features, extensible types and additional transports.
