At RTI, we work with many complex systems that utilize ROS 2 applications as some -- or even all -- of the functional elements. While it’s true that off-the-shelf ROS 2 recipes can provide a rapid method for creating robust and extensible systems, integrating ROS 2 and Data Distribution ServiceTM (DDSTM) can yield startling efficiency advantages. In fact, pairing RTI’s Connext® DDS with ROS 2 can quickly  improve performance, scalability and functional resilience, while keeping the system fully ROS 2  compatible. This webinar will provide an overview of the  built-in capabilities and high-level benefits   of Connext DDS, which include minimizing system resource consumption, reducing network utilization and enabling applications to successfully scale.

Join us on December 8 as RTI Field Application Engineer Frank Gates explains how ROS 2 and RTI Connext® DDS work together seamlessly to provide robust, secure, scalable and performant systems, while cleverly reducing the effort involved in creating complex ROS 2 systems.

Who should attend

This seminar is designed for system architects & designers, whether they’re working on a new fresh design or simply looking for ways to breathe new life into legacy design environments. For those looking to begin using DDS for mission-critical system design projects, this information-packed webinar is a great place to start.

What you'll learn

  • Introduction to DDS with an emphasis on using Connext DDS with ROS2
  • Application of Connext DDS’s strong data model and Quality of Service (QoS) capabilities
  • How Connext DDS delivers secure and safety-critical designs
  • A Connext DDS and tools demonstration to illustrate the practical aspects of developing with Connext DDS

Presenter

Frank Gates, Field Application Engineer, RTI

Frank Gates has enjoyed a long career highlighted by specific expertise in complex, mission-critical complex systems. His early work with critical-infrastructure voice/data telecoms led logically to architecting responsive distributed systems and networks, even before they became known as IoT. More recently, Frank has focused on bringing high-performance Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) solutions to mission- and safety-critical systems in aerospace & defense and autonomous applications.

This webinar is part 3 of 3 in the, "Future-Proof Your Mission-Critical Systems with DDS" series:

Part 1: October 8th, 2020: Elegant System Design in the Face of Requirement Changes

Part 2: November 5th, 2020: Better Together: A Great Data Model and DDS
