For customers of RTI Professional or Elite Edition, version 4.5e adds Distributed Logger, which allows you to easily collect and analyze status information from edge assets. It also includes Recording Console, which provides an easy-to-use point-and-click interface for RTI Recording Service. This interface makes it even simpler than before to record live data from the field for post-mission analysis.

RTI Limited-Bandwidth Plug-ins—a new add-on option available for RTI Data Distribution Service 4.5e—addresses the challenges of constrained-network communication. They are designed to overcome situations where the network is constrained by low or limited bandwidth, intermittent connections or related issues. This optional bundle includes:
The Limited-Bandwidth Plug-Ins are compatible with other RTI core features, such as multicast, message prioritization, latency-aware packet batching, and link aggregation. In combination with the Limited-Bandwidth Plug-ins these features provide a complete solution for building highly efficient applications in constrained network environments.

With RTI Data Distribution Service 4.5e applications can have significantly improved response time to critical events by using prioritized update messages. An application's send queue may fill up, when peak load exceeds the available network bandwidth, or when throughput drops on intermittent and variable-bandwidth communications links. Using prioritized messages, RTI Data Distribution Service will send the most urgent updates first, ensuring continued operation of mission-critical processes. Applications can assign priorities very flexibly, from the level of publishers, down to the level of individual updates, allowing very fine-grained control.
RTI Data Distribution Service 4.5e includes RTI Distributed Logger, which allows you to easily collect and analyze log information from distributed applications using the RTI Monitor graphical user interface. It enables you to log messages through existing logging infrastructure and be notified in real-time when error or warning conditions occur anywhere in your distributed system. Also, the messages can be centrally collected and stored to disk for later analysis and troubleshooting.

The new Recording Console provides a point-and-click interface for RTI Recording Service. This interface significantly reduces RTI Recording Service configuration time and complexity, and does not require any programming. The Recording Console makes it simpler than ever to test algorithms and other processing logic against pre-recorded test data, conduct regression testing from 'golden' data inputs, or record live data from the field for post-mission analysis.
The Recording Console in RTI Recording Service provides a graphical front end for configuration, scheduling, and recording functions. In addition to standard recorder operations (start, stop, pause, etc.) the user can monitor and select topics to replay, control the playback speed, and perform many other advanced functions.
This release of RTI Data Distribution Service adds support for over 20 new desktop and embedded platforms. These include Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0 and 6.1 on 32 and 64-bit Intel, QNX 6.4.1 and 6.5 on Intel, VxWorks 6.8 and 6.9 on Intel and PowerPC, Wind River Linux 3 on PowerPC, INTEGRITY 5.0.11 on PowerPC, and INTEGRITY 10 on Intel. RTI Data Distribution Service 4.5e also adds support for safe and secure platforms, including VxWorks 653 version 2.3 and VxWorks MILS 2.1.1.
RTI Data Distribution Service 4.5e offers many more new features including support for DDS Group Access Scope (allowing applications to read updates from different topics in the same order as produced), simplified mapping of topic names to multicast addresses, and many performance and reliability enhancements.
