RTI Data Distribution Service 4.3 offers exciting new features, including:
Microsoft .NET Support With this release, RTI supports Microsoft .NET Framework, versions 2.0 and later, in the C# and C++/CLI languages. File-based QoS Configuration This release adds the ability to specify QoS in an XML file in addition to programmatically. This feature enables pre-defined or centrally administered configuration documents for ease of use and eliminates need for recompilation for QoS changes. Improved Throughput With this release, throughput for small samples is significantly increased via automatic, tunable batching of multiple samples into larger network-level packets. Throughput is increased by eliminating the overhead of multiple invocations of the underlying transport. Positive Acknowledgement (ACK) Suppression For reliable communication, RTI Data Distribution Service normally sends both positive acknowledgement (ACK) and negative acknowledgement (NACK) messages. When strict reliable communication is not required, this release of RTI Data Distribution Service can be configured so that it does not send positive ACKs. Disabling positive ACKs can reduce the overhead of network traffic. Support for Additional Platforms This release of RTI Data Distribution Service additionally supports Windows Vista, Windows CE 6.0 on Pentium and ARM, and VxWorks 6.5 on Pentium and PPC604. Other This release offers access to performance statistics, unrestricted use of keys, and various performance improvements, including improved throughput on Windows, improved performance for keyed topics, and optimized performance over lossy networks such as satellite links.
