News Releases Popular ScopeToolsT Suite Upgraded for New Release of Tornado® IDERTI® adds major new features to leading embedded system debug and analysis tools SUNNYVALE, Calif. - 10 September, 2002 - Real-Time Innovations® (RTI) today announced the release of the ScopeTools 4.0 debug and analysis tools, the most popular tool set for the Tornado Integrated Development Environment from Wind River System, Inc (NASDAQ:WIND). The new tools provide major new features and are seamlessly integrated with the recent release of the Tornado 2.2 platform. "The ScopeTools motto is 'See it, Understand it, Make it work(SM).' The five tools provide the visibility and services that embedded programmers need to build reliable, high-performance products," states Stan Schneider, RTI Chief Executive Officer. "This release represents another significant step in this vision. We have incorporated years of customer experience to provide unprecedented views and easy access to vital information." The ScopeTools family consists of StethoScope®, MemScope®, ProfileScope®, TraceScope®, and CoverageScopeT. Together, they provide comprehensive insight into embedded program operation. For example, the ScopeTools let you monitor global and local variables, analyze memory use, analyze CPU performance, trace inter-module function execution, and assess test program coverage. Each tool has an intuitive graphical interface that helps the user interpret data quickly and make sense of complex, real-time behaviors. "Our customers are building increasingly sophisticated and powerful applications with intense time-to-market pressures and fewer engineering resources," said Tony Tryba, Vice President and General Manager of Wind River's Embedded Technologies business unit. "RTI is a premier WindLink partner and as such, our joint customers are ensured seamless integration between our respective technologies - a key benefit amid today's market pressures. The ScopeTools suite perfectly complements Wind River's Tornado platform and enables our customers' need to deliver high-performance, efficient, and reliable solutions." This ScopeTools release includes major enhancements to MemScope and StethoScope and introduces the Real-Time Visualization (RTV) package. MemScope users can now view memory allocation and de-allocation over time and display a graphical memory fragmentation map. The time view is useful to find the high water marks and to see how specific events impact memory usage. In addition, the new MemScope keeps track of who freed memory and supports custom memory allocation schemes. The StethoScope data monitor can now log event data in addition to periodic variable changes through a new API. The RTV package was developed to help users find problems faster. It consists of special versions of MemScope, StethoScope, TraceScope, and Wind River's WindView® logic analyzer configured with an integrated triggering feature. The user selects which combination of views will best help them interpret the program data. When the trigger occurs, data are logged and the selected tools are invoked. The user can then, for example, see which functions were executing, how specific global and local variables were affected, and how memory was used at that time. RTI Products Availability The ScopeTools 4.0 tools are available now from Wind River as part of the Tornado 2.2 Professional, Power Professional, and RTV packages. Contact Wind River for pricing.
