Sunnyvale, CA—September 30, 1997—Real-Time Innovations announced today the release of StethoScope version 5.0, for UNIX and Windows environments. StethoScope is a powerful, user friendly, real-time graphical monitoring, performance analysis and data collection tool. Programmers can use StethoScope to dynamically examine and analyze real-time applications as they run on a target system. StethoScope's powerful multiple-window environment enables developers to choose program variables interactively and watch them change in real time. This provides the user with visibility of the inner workings of a real-time application to tune performance, reveal glitches, and learn of program errors.
StethoScope 5.0 adds many new features. It now supports more complex systems through a new hierarchical signal management facility. Version 5.0 presents an intuitive "tree view" interface to manage many variables in a system. This new feature allows programmers to register hundreds of possible variables to monitor, activate subsets of the registered variables for collection at any time, and organize variables with a powerful hierarchical naming system.
A new, more powerful, graphical interface has been added to StethoScope 5.0 to improve user interaction. This interface includes toolbars for the most commonly used functions, graphical startup dialogs to help programmers set parameters, a more powerful X-Y signal selection, better control of monitor window items (including write-back control, defaults, and formatting options) and a faster connection with more connection status information.
"StethoScope is the only tool that lets you watch your variables while your program runs. It provides the visibility you need to understand your system; what it does, how well it works, and why it fails. When you understand your system, it's much faster to get the job done, and get it done right. Version 5.0's innovative GUI and variable management make it even more powerful." -- Stan Schneider, President and CEO of Real-Time Innovations, Inc.
StethoScope lets the user view their application while it is running. It is a fundamental tool for all real-time programmers. StethoScope is unique in today's market as it allows users to find bugs while they are occurring.
StethoScope is used extensively by thousands of companies, universities, and national laboratories. It is available on Windows 95, Windows NT, SunOS, Solaris, Irix, HP-UX, IBM AIX and Digital UNIX. It supports x86, PowerPC, I960, Sparc, m68k, MIPS, rad6k, and most Wind River Tornado platforms as targets. StethoScope also supports Silicon Graphics Irix/REACT applications.
