RTI Introduces StethoScope 4.3

For immediate realease.

Sunnyvale, California. June 17, 1996. RTI will be shipping its latest version of StethoScope in August. Like the release earlier this year of StethoScope 4.3 for Irix, StethoScope 4.3 features a new display window called the "Monitor" window. It lets real-time programmers display dynamically-updated numeric data in any format they like. The monitor window also has the new capability of writing back to the target. This lets programmers poke around in the real-time system during execution. Additionally, the graphics printing supports color PostScript output, and StethoScope now supports many more data types. Also, you can now browse and monitor Unix programs with CodeProbe, a graphical symbol table browser for customers who run programs on Unix as well.

Additional StethoScope 4.3 for Tornado features include:

Display Licensing
RTI now licenses displays, not the number of copies running simultaneously. Thus, even with a 1-bean license, programmers can run 5 copies of StethoScope (talking to 5 targets if they like) at the same time.

*Tornado Tree Installation
Programmers can now install StethoScope directly into the Tornado file tree structure.

Tornado Target Server Support
StethoScope can now connect to targets through the target server, thus allowing access to deeply embedded targets that do not have networking support.

Tornado Compatibility
RTILib has a new utility to provide target server access. It allows the target to access the symbol table and load objects, even when the target-resident symbol table option is not used. This essentially serves the target server functions to the target.
