RTI Completes 2005 Positioned for Long-Term Leadership in the Real-Time Middleware Market Middleware License Revenues Grew 50 Percent and Related Services Grew 135 Percent in 2005
SANTA CLARA, CA–March 13, 2006– Real-Time Innovations, Inc. (RTI), The Real-Time Middleware Company, today released a summary of its strategic achievements in 2005. During that year, RTI solidified its focus on the fast-growing real-time middleware market through the sale of its non-middleware product lines. RTI also significantly enhanced its middleware solution with a major product update and the acquisition of complementary technology, resulting in significant revenue growth. With momentum, focus and solid technology leadership, RTI is well positioned for further growth in 2006 and beyond. RTI middleware license revenue grew more than 50 percent in 2005 compared to the prior year, with nearly twice as many new project adoptions. Services revenue grew even faster, at approximately 135 percent, as customers took increasing advantage of the company’s expertise in real-time distributed application development and the DDS standard. “RTI had an exceptional 2005 and made significant progress in its strategy to establish leadership in delivering real-time data distribution and data management solutions,” explained Stan Schneider, chief executive officer of RTI. “Because applications are both increasingly distributed and dependent on real-time data, distributing that data where it is needed, when it is needed, is becoming critically important. RTI is at the forefront of designing and delivering middleware to make that possible.” The groundwork for RTI’s pivotal 2005 was laid in January when the company announced the sale of its ScopeTools business unit to Wind River Systems (NASDAQ: WIND) for approximately $10 million USD. This sale was an important step in the execution of RTI’s strategy to focus the company and its resources on the fast growing real-time middleware market. In August, RTI fulfilled a multi-year plan with the introduction of a major new release of RTI Data Distribution Service (formerly NDDS) that complies with the Object Management Group’s (OMG’s) Data Distribution Service (DDS) standard. DDS is already broadly adopted in aerospace and defense applications. The U.S. Navy, for example, has designated DDS as a required technology for every major surface ship program. DDS use is also growing in other markets such as transportation and industrial control. RTI is now the leading supplier of DDS-compliant middleware solutions. RTI also significantly expanded its middleware solution with the acquisition in September of technology from 4TEC AB. The resultant RTI Distributed Data Management product (formerly RTI Distributed Data Management) provides a solution for applications that require high-performance access to a common database of real-time information across multiple computers, including both Enterprise and embedded systems. RTI Distributed Data Management integrates the Oracle TimesTen In Memory Database with 4TEC database replication technology and the RTI Data Distribution Service, allowing applications to access data using both the SQL and DDS standards. During the year, RTI also announced two key executive hires that significantly strengthen the depth of its management team. Supreet Oberoi joined RTI as VP of Engineering, while David Barnett came on board as VP of Product Management. The addition of Oberoi and Barnett rounded out a highly qualified and focused management team that will drive the company to maintain a leadership role in real-time middleware and distributed data management. “All of the pieces are in place,” continued Schneider. “RTI
has the technology, expertise and momentum to establish and maintain long-term
leadership in the real-time middleware market. Last year was only the
beginning. RTI will continue to set the pace for growth well into the
future.” About RTI ### RTI, Real-Time Innovations, NDDS, RTI Distributed Data Management and The Real-Time Middleware Company are registered trademarks or trademarks of Real-Time Innovations, Inc. |
