News Releases RTI OPENS REAL-TIME INNOVATIONS GmbH TO SERVE GROWING INTERNATIONAL DEMAND FOR REAL-TIME SOFTWARESUNNYVALE, Calif. - September 18, 2000 - To better meet the growing international demand for its real-time software and tools, Real-time Innovations (RTI) today announced the opening of their European office, Real-Time Innovations GmbH. Gerd Lammers has been appointed Director of Business Development of Europe and Stefaan Sonck-Thiebaut as Technical Director Europe. "We have seen a strong surge in international activity with the Interface for Distributed Automation (IDA) group's recent selection of RTI's NDDS networking middleware to bring real-time communications over Ethernet and our work with IAONA in Europe," stated Dr. Stan Schneider, RTI president and CEO. "Added to the popularity of our ControlShell® application framework for intelligent control and the instant analysis capabilities provided by our ScopeToolsTM suite used with Wind River's TornadoTM embedded development environment, we anticipate even stronger international activity." In August Schneider Electric's Automation Business and IDA both selected RTI's real-time publish-subscribe (RTPS) network middleware NDDS for distributed control over Ethernet with the goal of making it the standard in RTPS communications. Already used by US Navy ships for ship-wide communications and in next-generation skyscraper elevators to relay control and status data, RTPS is now being tapped to help meet the rigorous communications requirements of the industrial automation sector.
