New Tool Improves Quality of Test Procedures


RTI CoverageScope joins the popular ScopeTools product line

Sunnyvale, Calif . - 17 May, 2002 - RTI (Real-Time Innovations®)

Real-Time Innovations., a leading provider of tools for embedded and real-time application developers, today announced the release of CoverageScopeT 1.0 for Tornado® 2.x. CoverageScope is the newest addition to the popular ScopeToolsT product line. It is available for Windows® and Solaris® hosts and supports standard VxWorks® target architectures.

CoverageScope helps customers meet the increasing pressure to deliver high-quality products as quickly as possible while minimizing costs. CoverageScope quickly highlights code that has not been tested, ensuring much better detection of latent bugs. In addition, CoverageScope uncovers redundant tests that can be eliminated, thus shortening the testing cycle without sacrificing quality. Finally, Coverage identifies potentially "dead" code that could be eliminated without losing functionality.

With very minimal effort, we were able to increase our function coverage by about 20%. That's very significant; it greatly increases our confidence that we are shipping a quality product."

About RTI CoverageScope
CoverageScope is a code coverage analysis tool that shows users which parts of their code actually executed during testing. CoverageScope immediately highlights untested code and presents the results in easy-to-understand graphical displays. Users choose from multiple views of data, including:
  • a collapsible-tree summary view,
  • a source code view,
  • a trend graph,
  • and a distribution graph.
CoverageScope provides exactly the data users need. It allows four increasingly detailed levels of coverage analysis: function, block, decision, and condition coverage. It lets users view coverage totals for each level, summarize information by function or file, see what code is not covered by file, and see which functions/blocks/decisions/ conditions were not covered. CoverageScope also automatically generates custom-formatted reports in HTML for easy web browsing.
