SUNNYVALE, Calif.—March 29, 2011—Real-Time Innovations (RTI), The Global Leader in DDS, today announced its ninth consecutive year of growth. For the year ended December 31, 2010, the company grew both revenue and customer design wins by over 20 percent and saw a 53 percent increase in profits. Significant revenue growth was driven by both a geographic expansion and an increased foothold in sectors outside the U.S. military. Growth was significant in all regions worldwide, but there was a particularly strong showing in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. Revenue increased more than 50 percent in commercial and international businesses.
"While RTI has enjoyed consistent growth year over year, I believe this year marks a turning point for the company and the DDS industry as a whole. We are seeing a significant broadening into more industries and geographies," said Stan Schneider, CEO of RTI. "I believe we are reaching a critical ‘tipping point' as the technology moves into the mainstream," Schneider continued, "and we are proud of our leadership position. RTI is by far the leading DDS vendor by all relevant metrics: deployed runtimes, deployed projects, supported development seats, active significant projects, standards activity, services and support delivered, new customer acquisitions, and of course revenues. RTI is the gold standard of the DDS industry."
RTI saw a significant upsurge in new design wins and deployments in commercial application areas such as automation and control, transportation, cloud computing, and financial services. The company acquired several new customers in the automation and control space by enabling time-critical data exchange in large-scale factory and mine operations. In the transportation realm, the company acquired notable new design wins for managing the intricate timing and controls of major metropolitan transportation systems. Financial services customers, including the Global Equities division of one of the world's largest financial services companies, deployed RTI-based applications for high-speed, low-latency transaction processing. Finally, RTI continued to gain traction in the unmanned vehicle market, which spans both military and commercial sectors.
International business also soared. APAC was RTI's fastest-growing region, with significant business in Korea, Singapore, China and Japan. Notable European wins included the ATLANTIDA consortium (air traffic control) and Cassidian (a global contract with the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company N.V. [EADS]).
Reinforcing its position as the industry technology leader, RTI introduced substantial new capabilities to its product line in 2010. These included RTI Routing Service enhancements to facilitate the integration of disparate technologies; RTI Monitor, a graphical tool for visualizing and debugging performance-critical distributed applications; and added support for configurable replay of recorded data for RTI Recording Service.
According to Embedded Market Forecasters' Annual Survey of Embedded Software Developers, RTI captured more than 70 percent market share of the commercial DDS space. RTI has maintained its position as market leader for seven consecutive years, leading the competition in both revenue and in design wins. RTI software now has over 400 design wins and over 300,000 licenses in use by deployed applications.
